Review of Equine Drug Testing
نویسنده
چکیده
Forensic equine drug testing has made comprehensive changes in the past few decades, resulting in analytical sensitivity of parts per trillion for many analytes. This highly sensitive testing has provided a strong deterrent to and increased the integrity of the racing industry. The coinciding detection of equally small amounts of therapeutic drugs, however, has resulted in numerous violations that previously would have been undetected. Review of a Consequence of Highly Sensitive Drug Testing: The Need for Data on Analytical-Pharmacological Relationships for Therapeutic Medications
Modern analytical tests, including those for legitimate therapeutic medications, can be extremely sensitive. Because of this, ineffective traces or residues of a number of legitimate therapeutic medications can be detected for significant periods after the pharmacological effects of the medications have dissipated. This review outlines both the mechanisms and the information base that the perfo...
متن کاملDetection of myo-inositol trispyrophosphate in equine urine and plasma by hydrophillic interaction chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.
Myo-inositol trispyrophosphate (ITPP) is a new drug capable of increasing the amount of oxygen in hypoxic tissues. Studies have shown that administration of ITPP increases the maximal exercise capacity in normal mice as well as mice with severe heart failure. The properties of ITPP make it an ideal candidate as a doping agent to enhance performance in racehorses. While there have been speculati...
متن کاملTroponin assays in the assessment of the equine myocardium.
In 2000, troponin assays were adopted as the test of choice for detection of myocardial injury in man. This decision was made after extensive testing and followed a 60 year search for a biomarker of myocardial damage with sufficient analytical sensitivity and specificity. This has led to proliferation of assays for use in human medicine, each requiring extensive testing and validation before it...
متن کاملThe effect of equine chorionic gonadotrophin (ecg) injection combined with prostaglandin F2α (pGF2α) and gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) treatment on reproductive performance of Zandi ewes during non-breeding season
In this study, we aimed to investigate reproductive performance in estrus-induced Zandi ewes treated with equine chorionic gonadotrophin (eCG) injection in combination with prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α)and gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) during non-breeding season. The estrous cycle was synchronized using controlled internal drug release (CIDR) for 12 days. The ewes were randomly assigned to...
متن کاملAntifungal drug resistance of yeasts in dermatology: mechanisms, epidemiology and clinical impact
Superficial dermatophytoses are among the most common infectious disease. The most commonly used antifungal categories reazoles, polyenes and echinocandins. Due to the limited number of available antifungal drugs, toxicity and the emergence of resistant (intrinsic or acquired) strains, antifungal strategy needs to be developed. Recently the researchers try to find alternative antifungal agents....
